Puerto Vallarta’s tourist board has produced the video below directed towards welcoming American and Canadian tourists back after the flu scare.

Here’s the tourist board’s e-mail that just went out:

Puerto Vallarta, Wednesday, May 19th, 2009
Dear Friends:
Keeping you updated on what’s going on in Puerto Vallarta …
We are so happy that countries like United States, Canada and other countries in Europe have removed the warning against all non-essential travel to Mexico.

We would like to keep you informed about the 0 (zero) number of registered cases of the H1N1 virus in Puerto Vallarta which is one of the beach destinations in Mexico with no cases reported. So we are back to normal. Of course we continue the preventive actions implemented and recommended by our Government.

We want to share with you the testimonial video filmed this week in Puerto Vallarta at the 16th edition of the Sport Classic event hosted in Puerto Vallarta. This event is a lively competition of different sports with the participation of national and international athletes.

We have already sent it to the Mexico Tourism Board, wholesalers and clients in order to be used in newsletters and email blasts for the USA Media and customers traveling to Puerto Vallarta.

Please feel free to use it for your own promotional purposes or send it to your clients so they can see that Puerto Vallarta is ready, safe and clean as always to welcome them all again in México.

Thank you so much for your support and business to Puerto Vallarta “The World’s Friendliest City” (by the readers of the CondeNast Traveler Magazine).

We will keep you posted.

Three years ago, when Pat Henry met Heather Wallace, the creator of the Wallace Method of stretching for pain management, she was captivated by the genius of Heather’s system. The simplicity and natural flow of the movements struck a chord for Henry and became a central part of her personal wellness program.

Henry went on to become certified as a practitioner and began teaching others how to do the mode of this program that encompasses the personal, solo work…something one can do on their own, at home. Heather also offered classes in Minneapolis with students gathered from her clients and certified practitioners. In Puerto Vallarta where there were no other practitioners or existing clients, Henry developed an approach that could introduce the concepts and principles to someone with no experience or exposure. Her driving interest was to provide “fishing poles rather than hand out the fish.”

Among her students, Henry finds that most come because they are experiencing the usual loss of flexibility and range of motion that accompanies each birthday. Some have specific problems that are restricting their enjoyment of life and creating pain. With organic stretching movements that follow the flow of the body structure and utilizing specific principles of movement, students find the edges of their limits and gradually release blocked and/or locked places that are causing pain or restricting movement.

On April 14, at 10:00 am, Henry will offer a free introduction to this program at her studio. Space is limited. Those wishing to attend should call for a reservation and directions to the studio.

As part of the International Day against the Illegal Use and Trafficking of Drugs, President Felipe Calderón and his wife Margarita Zavala announced the National Information Campaign for a New Life to tell all Mexicans what they can and must do to prevent their children and young people from succumbing to drug addiction.

As part of the International Day against the Illegal Use and Trafficking of Drugs, President Felipe Calderón and his wife Margarita Zavala announced the National Information Campaign for a New Life to tell all Mexicans what they can and must do to prevent their children and young people from succumbing to drug addiction.

<img src="http://www.infopv.com/News/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/calderon.jpg" alt="President Felipe Calderón and his wife Margarita Zavala" title="calderon" width="300" height="203" align="right" size-medium wp-image-50" />The President announced that this campaign will establish the bases for constructing a safe Mexico in which children and young people can grow up free and without addictions, which is one of the priorities for Federal Government.

Over a thousand town halls from every state in Mexico will participate in this Information Campaign through the DIF State Systems, in which parents will receive all the necessary information and orientation for combating addictions.

Accompanied by the secretaries comprising the Security Cabinet, as well as those responsible for Health and Social Development, the President declared that drugs constitute a 21st century form of slavery. However, he added that Mexican authorities will work until they rescue Mexico from the grip of criminals and prevent them from taking over Mexican youth.

“But during this long, difficult battle, I would like you to know that in the unity of Mexicans, in the perseverance and deep love of our country professed by 105 million Mexicans, we will achieve victory, because there are far more of use who wish for a Mexico in peace and free of drugs and violence,” stated Felipe Calderón.

As part of the offensive since the start of his administration, joint operations have been carried out in various states to dismantle the logistic and financial structures of criminal networks … leading to the confiscation of over 55 tons of cocaine, which would have been used to distribute 1,100 million doses, as well as the seizure of 16,000 firearms and $250 million USD, a world record for Mexico.

The president added that through the “Let’s Clean Up Mexico” Campaign, the authorities have managed to recover public spaces that were in the hands of criminals, there is greater control in schools and the program of addiction control and prevention is already underway because …

“what is at stake is our children’s future”.

“And this national information campaign will help us all, because we will only be successful, if, in addition to the fact that we must have better governments, we must also be better citizens and parents. Parents must play a more active role and keep a close eye on what is happening at their children’s schools.”

Within this framework, the president praised members of the Armed Forces for their role in the joint operations for combating criminals in the various states throughout the country, even at the cost of their own lives.

“We know that we must fight the real criminals with all our strength and with a firm hand, as we are doing now, but at the same time, we must not treat young people or teenagers as criminals. It is a mistake to criminalize those who are merely the victims of boundless ambition and criminal perversion.”

Ten thousand promoters will participate in this campaign and the goal is to include 50,000 persons by December of this year.

The Federal Government will invest $589,972,198 pesos, confiscated from drug traffickers, in the construction of 310 Medical Specialty Units (UNEMES) or New Life Primary Care Centers for Addictions in areas with the highest indices of drug consumption.
